Jeans for Genes 2021

Written by: Rosie Lobley

One in 25 people in the UK is affected by one of around 6,000 life-altering genetic diseases. Some genetic disorders can be apparent from birth, while others can gradually develop in childhood, adolescence or adulthood. Many genetic disorders are characterised as ‘rare’, meaning that they affect fewer than one in 2,000 people.

The Jeans for Genes campaign is dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support the genetic disease community. Its Jeans for Genes Grant Programme delivers one-off, unrestricted grants to small genetic disorder charities in the UK. The campaign also offers educational resources for all age groups.

On Thursday 16 September, the stylish Spirit team donned their denim to support Jeans for Genes. As we’re still slowly staggering back into the office after 18 months of working from home, it was a change for some of us to get out of our cosy sweats and pyjamas!
